I am a student teacher and I have a class of low level ability children. During our last class, I tried to introduce the concept of cause and effect to them from their "Be a Better Reader" book. They understand cause and they understand effect, but they cannot make the connection that one effect can be the cause of another effect. I'd like to make it as simple as possible for them, and maybe use something visual, because my sentences aren't working, and the visuals in the book, which are a poor representation of a flow chart, aren't working either. I have to teach this to them on Wednesday, and I need to let me teacher know by Tuesday what I plan to do. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
